Tom has broad experience advising on a range of commercial, trust and property issues. He is focused on building lasting, trusting relationships with clients, and strives to provide practical and pragmatic advice. Tom’s knowledge of the commercial world enables him to advise clients on their day to day business affairs, and any associated legal issues or requirements.

Tom’s expertise includes general aspects of corporate and commercial law:

  • Corporate governance;
  • Shareholder agreements and arrangements;
  • Securities;
  • Business sales and acquisitions;
  • Asset financing.

In June 2013 Tom rejoined Burrowes and Company, after spending 11 years at Morrison Kent. He was promoted to Partner on 1 January 2014. Tom first commenced his legal career with Burrowes and Company in 2000, as a staff solicitor. He graduated from Victoria University with an LLB/BA. Tom is a member of the NZLS Property Law Section. 

He regularly advises clients on complex commercial and residential property transactions. Tom also acts for a number of trade associations and industry bodies.

Outside of legal practice, Tom is an ardent Marist St Pats supporter and sits on the MSP Management Board.  He is also chairman of the M & T Olechnowicz Scholarship Fund and a member of the New Zealand Law Society Standards Committee (Early Resolution Service).
